Dr. Wu Yang’s journey with the piano began at the tender age of 4, igniting a lifelong passion for
music. Her pursuit led her to Moscow, where she immersed herself in the rich musical traditions of the
... Moscow State College of Frederic Chopin at just 13 years old. Later, under the tutelage of esteemed
mentors like Prof. Yuri Hayrapetyan and Prof. Alexander Rudin at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky
Conservatory, Dr. Wu obtained her master's degree in 2010 and her doctoral degree in 2013.
An accomplished pianist, Dr. Wu has graced stages across the globe, captivating audiences in
Russia, Germany, Italy, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and beyond. Her talent has been recognized
with numerous awards, including prestigious accolades from the Concours International de Piano de
Fribourg in Switzerland, 5th "Paolo Serrao" Music Competition Citta di Filadeltia in Italy, the All
Russian Art Festival for Youngsters in Russia, the 5th International Piano Competition 'Johann Baptist
Cramer' in Germany, the Music Competition for the 100th- Anniversary of Aram Ilitch Khatchaturian’s
Birth in Russia and many more.
In 2014, Dr. Wu initiated Finger Waltz Music in Singapore, heralding the onset of her esteemed
teaching journey. With prior experience as a lecturer at the School of Yang Talents, Nanyang
Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) , and presently as a dedicated piano lecturer and master’s degree
advisor at Singapore Raffles Music College (SRMC), along with her role as a Steinway Teacher
and Education Partner (STEP), she champions the pinnacle of piano pedagogy. Throughout her
tenure, she has nurtured budding pianists towards triumph in international competitions spanning
Singapore, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
Dr. Wu’s dedication to music education extends far beyond the classroom. She is the president of
World Piano Teacher Association Singapore (WPTA Singapore), a founding member of the
Chopin Society of Singapore, and also serves as the Artistic Director of the Singapore
International Classical Piano Competition (a member of the Alink-Argerich Foundation). Her
expertise is widely recognized, and she has been invited to serve as a distinguished adjudicator for
numerous prestigious competitions, including the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford
(US), Concorso Nuova Coppa Pianisti International Piano Competition in Osimo (Italy), International
Piano Competition in Busko-Zdrój (Poland), Teresa Carreño International Piano Master Competition
in Miami (US) , Future Stars International Piano Competition (US), Steinway Youth Piano Competition
(Singapore), International Classical Piano Competition (Singapore), Asia International Art Competition
(Singapore) and International Piano Invitational Competition (Hong Kong), etc.
Additionally, she directs Finger Waltz Music Productions, collaborating with esteemed artists from
around the globe such as Rafal Blechacz, Kate Liu, Alexander Kobrin, Lukas Geniusas, Vitaly
Pisarenko, Ning An, Elisey Mysin, Pawlik & Pawlik Duo and many others, to bring their concerts to
Singapore.
